A weak chin can really detract from an otherwise balanced face. A plastic (silicone) implant is placed on the bone through incisions in the mouth or under the chin. This can be done under local anesthesia and takes about one hour. Most people go back to work within the week. Results are natural and can make an amazing difference in one's face.
Cheek Augmentation
Cheeks can be augmented by injections of fillers or by implants. The fillers are done in the office and you can go to work the next day. The implants require surgery in the office operating room so you need a few days off work. The fillers can last between 4 months and 2 years. The implants are permanent. Sometimes the new angularity that cheek augmentation brings to the face is dramatic. Some patients will do well with buccal fat removal instead or in conjunction with cheek augmentation.
Buccal Fat Removal
Many people have full cheeks, which can be sculpted by removing a tablespoon or so of fat from the buccal fat pad. This can be done with sedation as an outpatient. Patients return to work within a week. This can make the cheek look bigger and make a round face more angular! |
